Westminster, CO l Monday, November 11 : Westminster Chamber today announced it has joined the Small Business Saturday Coalition and that it will, together with American Express, support this year’s Small Business Saturday® celebration, which takes place on Nov 30. Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to supporting the independent businesses that make our communities unique and provide invaluable contributions to our economy.
This day will coincide with our annual Shop Local Sweepstakes, known We Love Westy. For information about how you can win up to $5,000 in cash prizes throughout this holiday season go to our event calendar at westminsterchamber.biz. Participating merchants are excited to welcome you into their business! Now you can shop, dine or do business locally and get rewarded for it. On November 30th those merchants will have free swag to give you, just pop by and say hi. “This is our third year participating in Shop Small and leveraging our We Love Westy Sweepstakes for a celebration that lasts longer than just one day” said Juliet Abdel, President/CEO – Westminster Chamber.
Created by American Express in 2010, Small Business Saturday serves as the ceremonial kickoff to the holiday shopping season for small businesses across the United States. In 2018, U.S. shoppers reported spending an estimated $17.8 billion at independent retailers and restaurants on the day, according to the 2018 Small Business Saturday Consumer Insights Survey.1 In addition, the Small Business Economic Impact Study2 from American Express found that an average two-thirds of every dollar ($0.67) spent at small businesses in the U.S. stays in the local community, meaning a consumer’s local impact during the holiday shopping season can be significant.
Small Business Saturday celebrates the diversity of small businesses across the U.S. and Westminster Chamber recognizes the importance of supporting small businesses, the jobs they help create, and the culture they foster in local communities.
