Was one of you New Year’s resolutions to quit smoking? Now may be the right time to follow through on that resolution.

The Colorado Legislature’s House Bill 19-033 went into effect on March 28, 2019, which allows local governments to collect a sales tax on cigarettes.

As such, the city has repealed its cigarette sales tax exemption. Effective Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, the sales of cigarettes in the city are no longer exempt. A sales tax rate of 3.85% will now be charged on all cigarette sales.
