In August 2019, we are conducting a comprehensive count of those without homes to guide policymaking, funding and service decisions in Jefferson County.
The comprehensive count of those living outdoors, in cars, in sheds, who are doubled up or “couch-surfing” or who are living a hotel without enough money to stay for more than 14 days will identify the scope of the need across the county, both for housing and services. The data will be used to locate funding streams to better meet the needs of the children, working families, singles, seniors and those with disabilities across the county.
In addition to the month-long survey being conducted by many agencies during their normal services, there will also be a week-long street outreach survey conducted across the county starting Monday, August 19 and going through Friday, August 23. Please sign up for a shift here.
