NOVEMBER 13, 2021

Westminster, CO – On Thursday, November 11th the annual Taste of Westminster event took place at the Ice Centre at The Promenade.  The event featured local restaurants – chefs and businesses - that offered attendees food samples, giveaways, engaging activities, and libations.  Held near the holiday season, the Taste of Westminster is the precursor to the small business season.

This year nearly 400 attendees came together to support local business. Voting for special awards including the best Sniff N’ Sip, a category for libation vendors, generally breweries/pubs and other establishments; the most fun Non-Food Vendor, a category honoring a business that is creating a unique and engaging experience; and Best of the Taste of Westminster for one food vendor.

Two restaurants were neck to neck for the 2021 Best of The Taste of Westminster title– Tiller’s Kitchen & G-Que BBQ. Both received the exact same vote count, and after a recount, volunteers knew there was a dilemma. Who would win the 2021 title?

To break the tie, a secret judge was selected. This individual is highly distinguished in our community, not connected to the Chamber as a staff person or board member or volunteer. They are a world traveler, well-cultured, attended the event but did not vote, and they are local. Within a 24-hour period our two Chefs prepared the exact same samples served at the event.

“This was a tough decision to make. Both food samples were unique and outstanding” stated our secret judge. “The winner’s dish is selected based on one differentiating factor. Their pairing’s foundation had a blend of flavors that mixed exquisitely with the bold bourbon pork belly”. At 5:20PM on 11/12, G-Que BBQ was declared the 2021 Best of The Taste of Westminster winner. As a result, making Chamber history as the first restaurant to hold onto the title for a second consecutive year, besting 31 vendors for this title.

“It was so much fun to participate in the Taste of Westminster – we are thankful to the Chamber for all their work to put on this event so we can meet folks in the community and share our food with people who previously did not know about us” stated Jason Ganahl (Owner, G-Que BBQ). “I want to also recognize some stiff competition this year and cannot wait to come back together for a chance at fun friendly competition.”
