• City Level:

  • Government Affairs Committee

    Vice Chair - David Carpenter

The Westminster Chamber's Government Affairs Committee, made up of Chamber member representatives, supports the prioritization of and informs on much of the organization’s advocacy activities. Both regulatory and legislative issues that impact the broader business community and the Chamber’s policy agenda are regularly discussed and brought to the Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee for feedback and recommendations. It is during these meetings that the Committee analyzes issues and makes determinations that guide the Chamber’s positioning.

  • State Level:

  • Through a robust partnership the Chamber utilizes contract lobbyists at the State Capitol. During session, legislation is reviewed for supporting/oppositional stances, actions such as testifying or submitting letters of supports and alerts are made. Key events that support state-level advocacy include gubernatorial forums, legislative tours, and 'Chamber Day at The Capitol'.

  • Federal Level:

  • All layers of government affect business. To that end, the Westminster Chamber advocates in Washington. While not directly on site, the Chamber engages in national meetings via letters to congress, where we leverage national partnerships to amplify our voice and more. In our community, main streets encourage dialogue between our business owners and elected representatives, monthly roudtables with regional directors, and that continual input be provided to serve our best interests.
