Job Title: Director of Events & Special Programs
Reports To: President & CEO
Classification: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Location: Westminster, CO
Position Summary:
The Westminster Chamber of Commerce is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic Director of Events & Special Programs to support the daily functions of the organization. This full-time position plays a key role in ensuring the success of chamber and Downtown Westminster events, supporting membership retention efforts, managing administrative tasks, and maintaining efficient internal operations.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. This person thrives in a fast-paced environment, is passionate about serving the business community, and enjoys juggling multiple projects with professionalism and enthusiasm.
Key Responsibilities:
Event Planning and Execution
- Plan, coordinate, and execute Chamber events and Downtown Westminster Business Association (DWBA) programs and activities, including monthly mixers, annual galas, community events, ribbon cuttings, educational programming, and more.
- Handle logistics, vendor relations, event promotion, registration, on-site coordination, and post-event follow-up.
- Collaborate with sponsors and stakeholders to deliver exceptional event experiences.
Administrative and Operational Support
- Provide day-to-day administrative support to the President & CEO and Membership Coordinator.
- Answer phones, respond to inquiries, greet visitors, and manage general correspondence.
- Maintain organized records of meetings, events, contacts, and internal documentation.
- Assist in scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and recording minutes when needed.
Membership Support and Retention
- Assist with new member onboarding, engagement touchpoints, and renewal follow-ups.
- Help coordinate communication and benefits delivery to members.
- Maintain accurate member records in the Chamber’s CRM/database.
Communications and Outreach
- Support Chamber communication efforts through email, social media, and other channels.
- Prepare flyers, newsletters, and member updates using templates and basic design tools.
- Represent the Chamber professionally at events and in community settings.
Special Projects and Program Support
- Participate in strategic projects that support Chamber goals, such as advocacy efforts, surveys, and grant administration.
- Provide support for the Downtown Westminster Business Association (DWBA), including event planning, outreach, and project implementation.
Other Duties as Assigned
- Flexibility to take on additional responsibilities based on the evolving needs of the organization.
Must-Have Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and common digital tools
- Experience with event planning and coordination
- Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Comfortable working with diverse groups of stakeholders and volunteers
- Friendly, professional demeanor and commitment to teamwork
Work Environment & Schedule:
- Standard hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with occasional early morning, evening, or weekend event hours required.
- This position will work onsite at the Chamber office.
- Occasional local travel required for event support and outreach.
Compensation:
- Salary of $55-65,000 per year
- 15 days of paid leave per calendar year
- Paid sick leave - In accordance with Colorado law, employees accrue 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours per year
