Every Summer, from July 1 through July 31, children served by Denver Human Services are nominated by their caseworkers to be “adopted,” or sponsored, by generous donors in our community. Students receive a backpack filled with school supplies picked out just for them! Last year, GIVE Denver provided backpacks to 650 students in need. Through kind donations from members of our community, our goal is to distribute 800 backpacks to the youth of DHS for the 2017-2018 school year! Here's how you can give: 1) Register online to “adopt,” or sponsor, a specific student(s) and then go shopping for supplies especially for them! Register to donate by July 31. 2) Help GIVE Denver fill backpacks by donating school supplies. Drop off filled backpacks and/or general schools supplies at the GIVE Center, located inside the Denver Human Services Richard T. Castro Center (1200 Federal Blvd), or one of our other drop-off locations listed at www.denvergov.org/GIVE. 3) Let us do the shopping for you! Donate online at www.denvergov.org/GIVE or mail a check addressed to GIVE Denver. All donations are 100 percent tax deductible.
